This 5-star hotel was an extremely disappointing experience, especially considering the price I paid. Even though I booked the room at the last minute, they could have done much better. There were about five staff members at the reception desk when I arrived, yet they were neither helpful nor professional. For a Lake View Suite costing nearly 350 euros per night, the experience should have been far more accommodating. When I arrived, there were no complimentary fruits—just two bottles of water and two packs of cheap snacks. The food at their Vietnamese restaurant was also very disappointing for the price. Despite being a 5-star hotel in the heart of Hanoi, the quality and taste were far below standard. Although the room was spacious, the design was poor—especially the shower room, where the door couldn’t even be fully opened. I understand the hotel is old, but overall, the facilities felt outdated and worn. What disappointed me the most was the attitude of the receptionists. My mum and I had just undergone cosmetic surgery nearby, so we wanted to treat ourselves to a relaxing stay at a 5-star hotel. Unfortunately, apart from the lake view, everything else was terrible. I would never return to or recommend the InterContinental West Lake Hanoi.
